“Home at last – no more pain”
“Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.”
It’s with an aching heart, but deep gratitude for seven privileged years by the side of this Godly man, that I share the news you may already have heard. On Friday 10 May, at home with his family around his bed, Richard left his earthly home for a far far better place “… with Christ …” (Phil 1:23)
He had endured nearly five months of declining health and strength following major surgery just before Christmas. He stayed positive and brave throughout those long difficult days, in and out of hospital several times, but so glad to be at home for the last few weeks with the expert 24/7 care of wonderful nurses, together with GP and hospice oversight.
Throughout these long weeks Richard never lost his intention and trust to “stay useful” in the service of his Lord. Indeed he was planning talks and writing (dictating!) articles right up to the last. I speak for all his family in thanking so many who have been praying and caring. We want only to honour the memory and the life of this beloved husband, father, friend, and lifelong servant of God.
